I been writing this week based on 8 Minute Memoir Prompts. Today’s topic is billboards.
Billboards, what kind of prompt is this? I don’t even know where to start. When I think of billboards, I think of UT, the billboard capital of the world. Driving to Salt Lake from southeastern Idaho my brothers and I would often compete in the alphabet game. It always took forever to get letter in Idaho and Northern UT but as we inched closer to Salt Lake, it became a game of speed. Who could get the most letters the fastest. Who could find a J or a Q first and leave the rest of us in the dust.
Why are there so many billboards in UT? Are there really more than other places, or can you just see them all because it is so flat?
And why are they so ridiculous. Okay not all of them, but there are so many billboards that just make me roll my eyes.
In Maryland, I don’t really see billboards. There are some probably, but the trees really take over the sides of the roads here. I think it makes a huge difference when driving. It is so much more peaceful to be surrounded by nature. I think that is all I have to say about billboards.
